Calling All Cooks!
Meals Ministry Needs You!
The purpose of the Meals Ministry is to provide meals to IHM parishioners who need a little help for various reasons. The need may be based on a temporary situation such as a family illness or an ongoing situation where a regular, home cooked meal would be most welcomed.
The parish freezer is usually stocked with several home cooked meals such as casseroles, stews and soups which can be easily defrosted and heated for immediate consumption. This ministry also delivers home cooked meals to several elderly parish members on a fairly consistent basis.
If you or someone you know is in need of a meal please
call the Parish Office at 662-6331.
To keep this ministry going...
Meals Ministry can only continue its work with help from other parish members. We are always looking for people to provide a dish occasionally or on a recurring basis that will be frozen for future use.
The meals can be:
Store bought and frozen
Home cooked or home-baked and frozen
Home-assembled and frozen for later baking
There are lots of great cooks in our parish
who can probably think of a dozen freezable meals without consulting a cookbook.
For the rest of us, there are many wonderful resources on the Internet to help with
this endeavor. Just type "freezable recipes" into your search engines or click here to choose something.
Please contact Ruth Doyle
with questions or if you are interested in participating.
Thank you and God Bless you for your generosity.
If you would like to prepare a meal, please follow these ABC's:
Package well to avoid freezer burn. Use either a well covered, disposable
("8 x8" or 9"x13" sizes needed) or a freezer bag.
Label the meal with the following information:
1. Date prepared
2. Name of meal
4. Thawing, cooking and/or reheating instructions
5. Number of servings.
Optional: Include your name so we can thank your generosity.

Deliver the meal to the Parish Office during regular office hours:
Monday - Thursday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Friday 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
or contact Ruth Doyle for a pick-up.
We would like to thank the many parishioners who have already donated their time, made favorite meals, and demonstrated a love of neighbor to get this ministry off and running. With your help, we can continue to provide meals in time of need.
