A Treasury of Prayers

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name;
Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

The Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace! The Lord is with thee;
blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Salve Regina

Hail! Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our Life, our Sweetness, and our Hope.

To thee do we cry poor banished children of Eve;
to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.

Turn, then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us;
and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

O Clement! O loving! O sweet Virgin Mary!
V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Rosary Final Prayer

Let us Pray
O God, whose only-begotten Son,
by His Life, Death, and Resurrection,
hast purchased for us the rewards of eternal life;
grant, we beseech Thee that,
meditating upon these mysteries
of the Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
we may both imitate what they contain,
and obtain what they promise;
through the same Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Sweet Heart of Mary, be my salvation.

Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, pray for us.

Glory be to the Father

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen

Act of Contrition

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee,
and I detest all my sins because of Thy just punishments,
but most of all because they offend Thee,
my God, who art all-good and deserving of all my love.
I firmly resolve, with the help of thy grace,
to sin no more and to avoid the near occasions of sin.

Act of Contrition (modern version)

My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.
In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good,
I have sinned against you whom I should love above all things.
I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance, to sin no more,
and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.
Our Savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us.
In His name, my God, have mercy.
Amen.

Penitential Rite

I confess to almighty God
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned,
in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done
and in what I have failed to do,
(And, striking their breast, they say:)
   through my fault,
   through my fault,
   through my most grievous fault;
therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,
all the Angels and Saints,
and you, my brothers and sisters,
to pray for me to the Lord our God.
Priest: May the almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life.
All: Amen

The Apostles' Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,

and in Jesus Christ,
his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by
the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried;
he descended into hell;
on the third day he rose again
from the dead;

He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand
of God the Father almighty;
from there he will come to judge
the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
Amen.

The Nicene Creed

I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
(At the words that follow, up to and including "and became man," all bow.)
   and by the Holy Spirit
   was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third da
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son
is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come.
Amen.

Prayer to the Guardian Angel

Angel of God, my guardian dear,
To whom God's love commits me here,
Ever this night be at my side,
To light and guard, to rule and guide.
Amen.

Prayer to Michael the Archangel

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host
- by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, Satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

An Act of Faith

O my God, I firmly believe that Thou art one God in three Divine Persons,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit;
I believe that Thy Divine Son became man,
and died for our sins,
and that He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe these and all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church
teaches because Thou hast revealed them,
who canst neither deceive nor be deceived.

An Act of Hope

O my God, relying on Thy almighty power and infinite mercy and promises,
I hope to obtain pardon of my sins,
the help of Thy grace and life everlasting,
through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer.

An Act of Love

O my God, I love Thee above all things,
with my whole heart and soul,
because Thou art all-good and worthy of all love.
I love my neighbor as myself for the love of Thee.
I forgive all who have injured me,
and ask pardon of all whom I have injured.

Gloria

Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace to people of good will.

We praise you,
we bless you,
we adore you,
we glorify you,
we give you thanks for your great glory,
Lord God, heavenly King,
O God, almighty Father.

Lord Jesus Christ,
Only Begotten Son,
Lord God, Lamb of God,
Son of the Father,
you take away the sins of the world,
have mercy on us;
you take away the sins of the world,
receive our prayer;
you are seated at the right hand of the Father,
have mercy on us
For you alone are the Holy One,
you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ,
with the Holy Spirit,
in the glory of God the Father.
Amen.

Grace before Meals

Bless us O Lord, and these Thy gifts,
which we are about to receive from Thy bounty,
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

We give Thee thanks, Almighty God, for all Thy benefits,
Who livest and reignest, world without end.
Amen.

PRAYERS FOR CONFESSION

Prayer for a Good Confession.

Receive my confession, O most loving and gracious Lord Jesus Christ,
only hope for the salvation of my soul.
Grant to me true contrition of soul,
so that day and night I may, by penance,
make satisfaction for my many sins.
Savior of the world, O good Jesus,
who didst give Thyself to the death of the Cross to save sinners,
look upon me, most wretched of all sinners;
have pity on me, and give me the light to know my sins,
true sorrow for them, and a purpose of never committing them again.

O gracious Virgin Mary, Immaculate Mother of Jesus,
I implore thee to obtain for me by thy powerful intercession
these graces from thy Divine Son.

St. Joseph, pray for us.

Prayer for Pardon to Jesus Of Nazareth

Behold me at Thy feet, O Jesus of Nazareth;
behold the most miserable of creatures,
who presents himself before Thee, humbled and penitent.

Have mercy on me, O Lord, according to Thy great mercy.

I sinned, and my sins were committed against Thee,
O God of infinite bounty.

O Jesus, hear my prayers, graciously hear, O loving Father,
the requests I lay at Thy feet;
cast a favorable look on my soul.

Thou who art the loving Father of men, the Supreme Judge,
the King of Heaven and of Earth,
the true benefactor of the wretched.

Come then to my assistance, O Jesus of Nazareth,
Grant me the graces which I ask of Thee, kneeling at Thy feet,
My soul belongs to Thee,
because Thou hast created and redeemed it with Thy Precious Blood.

May Thy work not be in vain.

Turn, O loving Father, Thy regard upon me, and bless me.

O God of mercy, have pity on me;
pardon me, who am Thy son; deal not severely with me;
give me tears of repentance;
pardon me as Thou didst pardon the penitent thief;
watch over me from the height of Heaven and bless me.

The Apostles' Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,

and in Jesus Christ,
his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by
the Holy Spirit,

the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
Amen.

Thanksgiving After Confession

O Jesus, Son of the living God, my Savior and Redeemer,
behold us prostate at Thy feet.

We beg pardon, and make this act of reparation
for all the blasphemies uttered against Thy holy Name,
for all the outrages committed against Thee
in the most holy Sacrament of the altar,
for all irreverence shown to Thy most blessed and immaculate Mother,
and for all the calumnies spoken against Thy spouse,
our holy Mother, the Catholic Church,
O Jesus, who didst say:
Whatever you shall ask the Father in My Name,
that I will do, we pray and beseech Thee for our brethren
who are living in danger of sin,
that Thou wouldst preserve them from the seductions of apostasy.

Save them who stand over the abyss;
give them light and knowledge of the truth,
power and strength in the conflict against evil,
and perseverance in faith and active charity.

And therefore, most merciful Jesus, do we pray to the Father in Thy Name,
with whom Thou livest and reignest, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
world without end.
Amen.

PRAYERS FOR HOLY COMMUNION

Before Communion

Almighty and Eternal God,
grant that I may receive not only the Sacrament of the Body and Blood of our Lord
but also the fruit and virtue of the Sacrament,
O most indulgent God, grant me to receive the Body of Thine only-begotten Son,
our Lord Jesus Christ, which he took of the Virgin Mary,
that I may be found worthy to be incorporated with His mystical body
and numbered among His members.
O most loving Father grant that I may one day contemplate forever
face to face Thy beloved Son,
Whom now on my pilgrimage I am about to receive under a veil.
Who liveth and reigneth with Thee in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God, world without end. Amen (St. Thomas)

O Lord Jesus Christ, Who hast said to Thy apostles;
Peace I leave you, my peace I give you;
regard not my sins but the faith of Thy Church
and deign to give her peace and unity according to Thy will.
Who livest and reignest God, world without end.
Amen.

O Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God,
Who, by the will of the Father, with the cooperation of the Holy spirit,
hast by Thy death given life to the world,
deliver me by this Thy most sacred Body and Blood
from all my sins and from every evil.
Make me always cling to Thy commandments,
and never permit me to be separated from Thee.
Who with the same God the Father and the Holy Spirit,
livest and reignest, God, world without end.
Amen.

Let not the partaking of Thy Body, O Lord Jesus Christ,
which I, though unworthy, presume to receive,
turn to my judgment and condemnation;
but through Thy goodness,
may it become a safeguard and an effective remedy,
both of soul and body.
Who livest and reignest with God the Father,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God,
world without end.
Amen.

I will take the Bread of heaven, and call upon the name of the Lord.

Thanksgiving After Communion

I thank Thee, Eternal Father, for giving me as the food of my soul,
the Body and Blood of Thy only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
May this Divine Food preserve and increase the union of my soul with Thee.
May it purify me by repressing every evil inclination.
Grant that it may be to me a pledge of a glorious resurrection on the last day.

O Sacred Heart of Jesus, I love Thee with all my heart.
I am sorry for ever having offended Thee,
and I desire never to offend Thee again.

Act of Thanksgiving

O Almighty and most merciful God,
I give Thee thanks with all the powers of my soul
for this and all other mercies,
graces and blessings bestowed on me,
and prostrating myself at Thy sacred feet,
I offer myself to be henceforth forever Thine.

Oh, let nothing in life or death ever separate me from Thee!
I renounce with my whole soul all my treasons against Thee,
and all abominations and sins of my past life.

I renew my promises made in Baptism,
and from this moment I dedicate myself eternally to Thy love and service.

Oh, grant that for the time to come,
I may detest sin more than death itself,
and avoid all such occasions and companies
as have unhappily brought me to it.

This I resolve to do by the aid of Thy divine grace,
without which I can do nothing.
Amen.

PRAYERS OF PETITION

Prayer for our Priests

Lord Jesus,
Present in the Most Blessed Sacrament,
and living perpetually among us through Your Priests,
grant that the words of Your Priests may be only Your words,
that their gestures be only Your gestures,
and that their lives be a true reflection of Your life.

Grant that they may be men who speak to God on behalf of His people,
and speak to God's people on behalf of God.

Grant that they be courageous in service,
serving the Church as she asks to be served.

Grant that they may be men who witness to eternity in our time,
travelling on the paths of history in Your steps, and doing good for all.

Grant that they may be faithful to their commitments,
zealous in their vocation and mission,
clear mirrors of their own identity,
and living the joy of the gift they have received.

We pray that Your Holy Mother, Mary,
present throughout Your life,
may be ever present in the life of Your Priests.
Amen.

Prayer for our Youth

Dear Father in Heaven,
For the sake of your beloved Son,
please pour out your blessing on the sons and daughters
of Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Call them to yourself.
Show them the path.
Guard their way.
Pick them up if they should stumble.

Pour out your Holy Spirit upon those who minister to our youth.
Help them to impart true knowledge of you and your Church.
Give them creativity born of prayer and your love.
Help them to draw our young people into your kingdom,
which is “righteousness, peace and joy.”

Mary, mother of Jesus and our mother,
pray with us for our youth.
Also, pray for us who pray for them.
Amen.
